Liturgical Ministers

There are several ways to become involved in the liturgical life of St. Catherine’s as a Liturgical Minister. Liturgical Ministers are trained by Steve Johnson, Director of Liturgy & Music, and are scheduled on a month-by-month basis.

Please contact Steve Johnson at the Parish Office: 920-474-7000, ext. 123 or sjohnson@stcathofalex.com to get involved.

Lector

Lectors are adults who have a special interest and ability in public speaking. They proclaim the Word of God at Masses and other liturgies throughout the Church year.

Eucharistic Minister

Eucharistic Ministers distribute the Body & Blood of Christ to the congregation through Holy Communion. We are in great need of more volunteers to serve in this ministry .

Altar Server

Anyone who is in 3rd grade or older may an Altar Server. This is a responsibility mostly given to the youth of the parish, but Adult/Child teams also volunteer. Altar Servers help the congregation to have a more prayerful experience at Mass by assisting the priest with his duties.

Training for NEW Altar Servers
Saturday, October 15, there will be a training session from 9 AM to 10 AM in church.
Anyone who has received First Holy Communion (Grade 3 to Adult) is welcome to join this ministry.
Adult/Child teams are encouraged as well.

Please contact Steve Johnson at the Parish Office: 920-474-7000, ext. 123 or sjohnson@stcathofalex.com to sign up, or just come to the training session on Saturday.

Gift Bearer

During Mass, Gift Bearers carry forward the bread and wine that will be consecrated by Fr. Mike for Holy Communion. Everyone is encouraged to volunteer to act as Gift Bearers. Please sign up on the sheet in the Gathering Area if you would like to participate in this ministry.

Greeter/Usher

Those who are a Greeter/Usher welcome people as they arrive for Mass and assist them in finding available seating when necessary. During Mass, they collect the offering. After Mass, they hand out parish bulletins and make sure the pew areas are neat and welcoming for the next Mass. From beginning to end, they are available to offer assistance to the congregation as needed.

Environment

Environment is the liturgical decor of the church. It changes throughout the Church year depending upon the seasons, such as Ordinary Time, Advent, Christmas, Lent, and Easter. Occasionally there is a need for volunteers to help with Environment, especially in preparation for Christmas and Easter.
